<li>This study programme can be completed in 12 or 18 months. It consists of 5 examination papers.</li>
<li>An accredited bachelors degree in Theology, with Greek and Hebrew at the first-year level, is required.</li>
<li>Learners will have a choice of three papers from a selection of papers offered by the ATS.</li>
<li>At UJ, the learner will have a choice of two papers from a selection of seven papers offered by the Biblical Studies Department.

<li><span class="txtbold">Practical Theology:</span><br>
Pastoral care:  Pastoral counselling, cross-cultural and group counselling, mental health care. Church management 
and Church leadership.</li>

<li><span class="txtbold">Missiology:</span><br>
Missionary communication. Urban missionary work</li></ul></li>
<li><span class="txtbold">Paper 2 (Second Semester)</span>
<ul>
<li><span class="txtbold">New Testament:</span><br>
Pentecostal hermeneutics. Exegesis. Biblical content in counselling.
</li>
<li><span class="txtbold">Old Testament:</span><br>
Theology. Exegesis</li></ul></li>
<li><span class="txtbold">Paper 3 (Second Semester)</span>

<ul>
<li><span class="txtbold">Dogmatics:</span><br>
The doctrine of the Holy Spirit.  The ministries in the church.  Sanctification.  The doctrine of the end time.

<li><span class="txtbold">Church History:</span><br>
Methodology of Historiography. An assignment on a theme of the
candidates own choice. Pentecostalists, Neo-Pentecostalists,
independent black churches in Southern Africa, African Theology.</li></ul></li>
<li><span class="txtbold">Paper 4 (First Semester)</span>
<ul>
<li><span class="txtbold">Practical Theology:</span><br>
The unique nature of Christian counselling.</li></ul></li>
<li><span class="txtbold">Paper 5 (Second Semester)</span>

The church as charismatic body, church management, church growth.</li></ul></li>
